noah turned one, noah's doctor recommended we feed noah peanut butter daily because he is struggling to gain weight, noah made an ER visit due to said peanut butter on the same day, noah's birthday party, and thanksgiving.
so, all in all, we now know that noah has a severe peanut allergy (i LOVE peanut butter). he started getting hives within 2 minutes of having the PB, within 5 minutes we were on the phone with the doctor who said to hop in the car with noah and get benadryl, and within 15 minutes we were in the ER and Noah was getting IVs and Epinephrine shots and nurses and doctors were everywhere. It was really frightening, and scary to know how serious his allergy is. The way I look at it though, is at least now we know! At least it happened when Mike and I were both home, and at least we had the presence of mind to watch for allergy symptoms (i have food allergies as well). I don't know what would have happened had he had PB for the first time with a babysitter. Babies are not supposed to have peanut butter until closer to their second birthday, but our doctor thought his weight was a bigger deal that the miniscule chance that he actually be allergic to peanuts...welp, he actually is allergic to peanuts! poor guy is going to be "that kid", the epi-pen carrying kid, the kid that keeps peanuts off airplanes, the kid that keeps PBJ sandwiches out of school cafeterias. but, its all worth it. we love him and are thankful he's going to be sticking around. i'd hate to lose my peanut to a peanut.
we had a wonderful time with Mike's parents, sister, and our niece and nephew over thanksgiving. here are just a sample of our photos from thanksgiving. i'll be doing posts soon featuring, noah's birthday party, noah's first haircut, and thanksgiving...so look for those!
but here's two photos to tide you over. the first is our niece kenzie, and the second is obviously mike and noah. :)
